- Is Outbidly legit, or is this a scam?
- Outbidly is a real, live product: payments are processed by Stripe (not a custom or unaudited payment path), every listing and its total is publicly visible on the leaderboard, and the pricing rule ($5 minimum for a new listing, pay-the-difference for a top-up) is stated identically everywhere on the site — there's nothing different shown at checkout than what's promised on the page. Nothing about the mechanic is hidden or subject to change after you've paid: the rank you see reflects the total paid, and nothing else.
- Who's behind Outbidly?
- Outbidly is an independently built and operated product, not a large company with a public team page. If that matters to your decision to use it, weigh it the way you would any independent tool: the mechanic is fully transparent (anyone can verify a listing's total and the pricing rule directly on the board), payments run through Stripe rather than a homegrown system, and the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy spell out exactly what's collected and how disputes are handled.
- How is this different from just buying ads?
- Ads rent you a temporary impression through a real-time auction against relevance scores and targeting data. A listing is a public, permanent, verifiable total that holds a rank until someone pays more — no daily budget to manage, no targeting to configure, and a floor of $5 to participate at all. - Why pay at all instead of just posting my product somewhere for free?
- Nothing stops you from doing both — Outbidly isn't a replacement for posting on communities, directories, or social platforms that don't charge anything. What paying buys you here is control: on a free platform, your visibility depends on an algorithm, a moderator, or the luck of good timing, none of which you can act on directly. On Outbidly, visibility is a direct function of a number you control. If you want more visibility, there's exactly one lever, and you can see precisely what pulling it costs before you pull it.
- Is Outbidly gambling?
- No — there's no chance element and no random outcome anywhere in the mechanic; the highest total always wins, deterministically. See Is Outbidly Gambling? for the full reasoning.
- Is my payment information safe?
- Payments run through Stripe's own hosted Checkout page — Outbidly never receives, transmits, or stores your full card number or other card details. A listing's total is only ever updated after Stripe confirms a payment actually succeeded, verified server-side against Stripe's own event, never from anything the browser sends directly.
- Can someone submit my product without my permission?
- There's no account or ownership system tied to a listing, so yes — Outbidly doesn't verify that whoever submits a URL or handle controls it. If a listing points at something you own and you'd rather it not be listed, you can request its removal — see the Terms of Service for the acceptable-use and removal process. Removing a listing doesn't refund whatever was paid toward it, the same as any other listing that gets removed for violating the rules.
- Can a listing get me an SEO backlink?
- No, and Outbidly is deliberately built not to offer this. Every listing's outbound link is marked
nofollow— a paid link that passed search-ranking credit would violate search engines' own guidelines on link schemes. The value of a listing is visibility and click-through traffic from people browsing the board, not link equity. If you're looking specifically for backlinks, this isn't the product for that. - What currency is pricing in, and does Outbidly work outside the US?
- Pricing is in US dollars, processed through Stripe Checkout, which accepts international cards — you don't need a US-issued card to place a bid. There's currently no separate local-currency display; every total on the board is in USD.
- Is there a mobile app?
- No — Outbidly is a responsive website, built to work well on a phone browser (including a sticky bid button on mobile), not a native app. There's nothing to download or install.
- What happens to my data if I stop using Outbidly?
- Because the All-Time board is a permanent record by design, listing and payment history isn't deleted just because you stop paying toward a listing — it stays exactly where it is, at whatever rank its total earns it.
